Last Sunday in windy, wet weather conditions, the Crimsons/Sevenoaks combined squad travelled to Sevenoaks for their last league game of the season against the Medway Scarlets. The game started on disappointing note with a dropped ball leading to an early Medway score, but quick penalty taking from Lara led to a good try from Blessing to even things up. Both conversations were blown off course leaving the score 5-5 at half time.
The second half commenced in style for the Crimsons with a steal from Lucy off the kick-off. The girls were unlucky not to score as a consequence but the wet conditions meant there were quite a few dropped balls, followed by scrums. With Medway close to scoring, the Crimsons dug deep to pull off a great defensive play and prevent a try and Lara delivered an impressive defensive kick to clear the line.
It continued as a game of attrition with both sides putting in maximum effort in the tough conditions. Despite some great carries from Lara and Natalie, the Crimsons were unlucky not to score a second try. However, the defensive work was huge with great tackles from Ivanna, Bolu and many others. The final score was 5-5.
The first game with some new players from Dartford showed a positive outlook to the rest of the season. Well done girls!
