Friendly for the Colts against OAs today. A solid 51-28 win to send us into the Christmas break.
The combined OC’s/Greenwich U16s took 17 players to Ashford. Unfortunately, they were up against stronger opposition but rallied in the second half to put in a strong defensive performance. A team maturing and learning with each game they play.
Tough to take 19-33 defeat at home to Beccehamians for the U15’s. We got off to a great start and controlled the first 20 minutes or so well to build a 12-0 lead playing the kind of rugby that we’ve been working on. Beccs adapted to get a foothold back into the game either side of half time and the match could have gone either way at that point. Unfortunately with 3 late dropouts limiting our options for rotation, we tired noticeably towards the end and Beccs were able to get outside of us twice to score and take the win. Thanks to our players who all left everything out there today – it was great to see them really working for each other and playing like a team with a plan. Next up Darts on the 12th of January!
Making the long journey to Thanet in the Kent Waterfall this morning the U14’s were dreaming of being unbeaten at Christmas, but a very slow start saw us 21-5 down at the break. We fought hard in the second half and but for some robust last ditch tackling from Thanet on a couple of occasions, we might have got close, but it ended 28 – 19 to them. We still earned promotion to group 3 out of 8 but not quite the end of term we were hoping for. We go again In January- hopefully with some fixtures closer to home.
Under 13’s have had a great first half of the season, winning every Kent game so far, with today’s match being conceded by Beckenham. We’re going into the new year top of our group by 6 points! They’re also, genuinely, the nicest bunch of boys and the best teammates. They just all get on and really enjoy playing together. 😊
